We are pleased to offer the following tours aboard the Madi Gras with a very good chance to see the famous shoebill on each of them:
- Half - day ♦ express tour for those who have limited
 time. A good opportunity to show wildlife to your family without bumps and dust. You'll be amazed how much you'll see! You can start either at 8 a.m. in the morning and be back by 11 a.m. or do this trip after lunch: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- Full-day trip ♦ within one day you will unwind and see lots of wildlife. Take our packed lunch with you and enjoy it under the shaded canopy. We will bring you back in the late afternoon so that you start the next day refreshed and full of energy. The trip lasts from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m.
- Sundowner ♦ listen to the evening songs of the birds in the rays of the setting sun. 5 p.m. till 6.30 p.m.
- Overnight trip with bush camping ♦ you can make
 food arrangements yourself or we can provide it for you - delicious barbeque in the evening and light breakfast on board the boat in the morning. We start at 2 p.m. at Paraa ferry landing South bank or we can collect you from the opposite bank. Having arrived at the campsite by 5 p.m. the ranger will take you for a short game walk while we put up the tents and start the barbeque going. You are always welcome to help with setting the camp;). Then you can take a nice shower and sit by the fire with a glass of wine or beer looking at the starts and listening to the stories about wild life from the ranger. Next morning after a cup of coffee we set off. We'll offer you breakfast on board and take you back by 1 p.m. It's an opportunity to spend your week-end in a great way! The Madi Gras can comfortably take up to 8 people. For half - day, sundowner and full-day trips the number of passangers could be increased up to 12. You will be met by our Captain, Angelo, and once settled on board you can relax with a cold drink under the shaded papyrus canopy. The boat is equipped with a toilet, also known as "loo with a view", cooker, kitchen utensils to cater for up to 8 people, freezer. For more than 1 day trips a portable camping shower will be available in the evening and in the morning. For overnight trips you can choose to stay in an individual tent for a family with all the necessary equipment such as mattrasses, bed sheets, cushions, kerosene lights. Another option for adventurers is to sleep on board in individual compartments 2X2 with mosquito nets, listening to the sounds of hippos all around the boat. That is completely safe because the boat is a big object, they prefer to watch it and never try to come aboard. Nevertheless for security reasons all our overnight trips are accompanied by a UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority) ranger with a gun.
What to bring
- hats or caps are necessary as the sun might be really hot,
- sun cream,
- rain gear (the weather is unpredictable),
- a torch,
- a towel,
- long-sleeve shirts and trousers for comfortable evenings,
- light sweaters in case the weather gets cool,
- sturdy closed shoes as there might be snakes,
- prophylactic medication against malaria, such as Doxycycline is recommended. That could be obtained at the Chemist's in Kampala,
- mosquito repellent and spray,
- water, drinks and food (or make arrangements with us),
- toiletries,
- camera,
- binoculars
- and of course your friends!
